My name is Namrita and I have been working here at Advanced Laser Skin
clinics for 3 years. I have always been into skincare and this
seemed like a natural path for me to follow.
I grew up making my own face masks and giving anyone who I
could lay my hands on, a facial! At one point , I had started making
full body masks that I applied on myself every night. Cleanup was a
nightmare. I used to use Tumeric in the mask - if any of you have used
it before, you know it is a real pain to get rid of the bright yellow
it leaves behind!
Anyhow, I came to America and enrolled in beauty school - Hair
something in San Jacinto outside of Houston Tx. I ended up studying
business instead because I thought job opportunities that came with a
business major would do better for me in India as opposed to a
cosmetology degree...
I ended up meeting my husband and not going back to India, and I worked
in Corporate America for 8 years. I think it was great experience. But
I thought it was time to do what I really wanted. I quit in 2003 and
have been doing this ever since. I am much happier.
I have spent a lot of time studying skin care and laser and practicing
it. I actually tried electrolysis and the Q switched YAG on myself
before the diode.
Electrolysis is a process where you pass an electrical current using a
needle into each hair follicle to try and disable it. In my opinion,
electrolysis is very dependent on the technician. I had a great Tech in
Houston, but then never found anyone as good here in Chicago. Besides
laser was out by then.
My first experience with laser was with a Q-Switched Yag. Has anyone
out there had this? They put carbon on my face and zapped the hair. It
was quite an experience. Then I did the Light Sheer . I have had great
results with it. I did it about 4 years ago.
I love laser. That is what I tell everyone I meet. I had tried
electrolysis several years ago, but it did not work for me. I think
that electrolysis is very dependent on the technician doing the
treatment. Needless to say, I probably did not have a very good one.
Anyhow, I did laser about 4 years ago - and now I don't even own a
tweezer. Its kind of nice!
